European Commission’s public consultation and call for an expert migrant group on integration are still open!

Late July 2020, the European Commission launched a EU-wide public consultation that seeks to compile new and different perspectives on future initiatives and actions which could be implemented at EU level, in order to promote the integration and social inclusion of migrants. This consultation will contribute to shaping the renewed Action Plan on Integration and Inclusion foreseen to be presented late 2020, and that is directly linked to the New Pact on Migration and Asylum, under the coordination of Vice-President Margaritis Schinas and development of Commissioner Johansson. While integration policies mainly remain under the responsibility of Member States, the European Union is nonetheless able to continue promoting and incentivising integration efforts.

The public consultation may be answered in any of the EU official languages and will remain open until 21 October 2020. Individuals with a refugee, asylum-seeker or migrant background are strongly encouraged to take part in the survey, alongside experienced professionals and volunteers.

Further information & access to the consultation here.

In addition to the public consultation, the Commission has also published a call for applications for membership of the upcoming Expert Group on the Views of Migrants in the Field of Migration, Asylum and Integration. Selected members will contribute to effective and tailored policymaking on the topic, notably by working side by side with members of said target group.

Application to become a member will close on 21 September 2020. Again, individuals with a refugee, asylum-seeker or migrant background are strongly encouraged to take part in the survey, alongside experienced professionals and volunteers.

Further information and details of the call for applications to be found here.
